Insights Series – Curlies In Focus – Photography with Hannie Warendorf, 27 May 2026
Don’t forget that our second Insights Series Seminar is taking place this week with Hannie Warendorf.
Talking all things photography, she will be providing hints and tips on how to get the best out of your photos and Curlies!
This will take place online via teams on Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 7pm, and is free for Club members or £5 for non members.
Send your questions in advance as Hannie would like this to be interactive, including which camera/device you are using. This can either be via email to Carol or our Facebook messenger.

South West Training Hub – Half Day Workshop on Working Tests, 6 June 2026
A wonderful opportunity on Saturday 6th June 2026 for a workshop on Working Tests. This is a half day weekend training workshop to find out all you want to know about working tests. What the rules are, what to expect, what the tests might be, and what the judges are looking for. Have a go at some test based exercises with a general chat on scoring and how to get the best from your dog.
The day will start at 9am meeting for tea/coffee & intros, for a 9.30am start, finishing around 12.30-1pm. Debrief with tea/coffee & cake!
The cost is £40 per handler & dog.

There’s lots of ‘come and try’ activities, stalls, an expert education zone, a charity dog show, and a main show ring where there will be lots of demonstrations… Including this year a new Meet The Breeds feature, with Leslie Bain and his Curly, ‘Blue’, representing the CCRC.

Two Curlies in the North East have been attending very important appointments this bank holiday weekend and doing their bit to help…. Nikki Dick took Curlies, Mavis and Arthur to give blood.

1ST 12951 – Foxriever Immortal Spirit JW (Mrs E & Mrs D J & Mr A M Sutton & Whitehead & Whitehead), pleasing type black of 22 months, masculine without coarseness, has a very good coat of tight curls, very well bodied with deep rib and short loin, pleasing strength hindquarters with good second thigh, moved soundly on a pleasing stride in profile;
2ND 12942 – Firecurl Excalibur (Mrs N Dick) pleasing head and eye, built on finer lines, decent coat, quite a good mover and tidier out and back than 1, but preferred the strength of hindquarters of 1 who also scored in having better rib;

2ND 12947 – Brightmeadow Rumour Has It JW (Mr J & Mrs M B Stephens), black of two and a half years of age, very good type, lovely head and eye which I preferred to 1, pleasing overall outline and balance which was maintained on the move, would just prefer a shorter loin, went better behind than in front but a close call, pushed hard, RBD;

1ST 12949 – Sh Ch Ravenho Up Town Girl For Brightmeadow JW (Mr J & Mrs M B Stephens), I thought this bitch was all Curly in type and temperament as well as being so free from exaggeration, so feminine, appealed for her overall size, balance and proportions, excellent clean outline, lovely correct wedge shaped head, correct eye, well-made front with good neck and shoulders, balanced angulation fore and aft, correct coat of tight curls, well ribbed body, sound true mover out and back and maintains her outline on the move, one who is good to go over, BB and BOB;
2ND 12940 – Sh Ch Molokain Hocus Pocus (Mrs E D & Mr E & Mr S T Clack & Eddery & Clack), well balanced and overall well-constructed with a look of quality, obviously worthy of her title, liked her head shape and eye, clean neck leading to strong topline, well angulated hindquarters, carries herself well in profile on a good stride but less positive going away which was just the deciding factor;

1 Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead & Whitehead’s Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI). 16 month old black male. Friendly & self confident with dark eye. Forelegs straight with strong pasterns set well under body. Deep chest, muscular hindquarters. Moved with good extension. Reserve best of breed.
2 Sutton, Whitehead & Whitehead’s Foxriever Fire Fly (AI). Litter brother to 1. Liver male, upstanding and strong with a well developed head. Muscular shoulders, well sprung ribs, good turn of stifle. Unsettled on the move put him into second place.

Nicely wedged head shape, gorgeous dark eyes, ears small and close to head. Strong and slightly arched neck. Laid back shoulders, level topline with correct tail set. Effortless and powerful on the move. Best of breed. Delighted to award him group 4.
