‘Blue’ wins Best In Show at the Curly Coated Retriever Club Open Show 2026

We had a brilliant day at the Kennel Club Building at Stoneleigh, Kenilworth!
Our Secretary Vicki was organised, ready to greet everyone, and to issue Show Catalogues & Yearbooks.
It was the Annual General Meeting, we had a toast to our Club and there was some rather nice Sloe Gin which had been won by Jo Clayton on behalf of the Club for the Best Breed Stand at The Game Fair. We had our Champions Cake, although it was suggested that this is re-named to be our Achievements Cake given the number of Curlies that had gained awards for their Gundog Work.

We had our wonderful Club Shop and Club Raffle. Our Open Show judging was live streamed on the Curly Coated Retriever Club Facebook Page, and the recorded footage remains available.
We also unveiled our new Curly Coated Retriever Club Logo, which highlights that we have been registered with the RKC since 1899.
Crufts 2026
Sh Ch Ravenho Uptown Girl For Brightmeadow JW, owned by Jerry & Maggie Stephens, will represent the Breed at the Vulnerable Breeds Final at Crufts, judged by Dr Ron James.
Finalists will parade at 17:40pm at the bp pulse Live arena on Friday 6 March 2026. Pre-judging will take place in Hall 1, Ring 8 from 2:30pm.

The Working Curly
A message from Huw Jones
I would like to share some exciting news with you.
I have the honour of being the 2026 GB Euro challenge Retriever team captain for the second time, to say I’m honoured and proud to do so is an understatement.
The Euro challenge team event will take place at The Gamefair held at Ragley Hall on the 24th – 26th of July.
I will be holding a selection test for this year GB Euro Challenge team towards the middle/end of April once I have a ground secured and a date I will let you all know.
The test will be taking place in a central location of the country to allow everyone the opportunity to enter.
The team will consist of
1 x Labrador
1 x Golden Retriever
1 x Of the following
Chesapeake/Flatcoat/Toller/Irish Water Spaniel/Curly Coated Retriever etc.
The selection test is open to dogs of a good standard. Anyone interested in taking part, please email me for an entry form at huwh@aol.com
Can you please all share the post with people you would think would like to come along, and most importantly, can we get some younger handlers attending please.
If I can help further, please just let me know and I’ll try and help as much as possible.
