Activities

The Working Curly
CCRC Gundog Training, Northern Hub
, 1 June 2024
We had the fabulous CCRC Northern Hub training on Saturday!

We had 8 Curlies and 3 honorary Curlies joining Heather Barber for the training day, this is what she said about the day,
We had a good full day out gundog training amidst the backdrop of the Cumbrian Fells. Some 7 Curlies attended and 2 labs, with an additional Curly and a Goldie joining after lunch – plus an aspiring future Curly owner! The morning focussed on the basics with more challenging exercises in the afternoon. It was a little warm so there were plenty of welcomed ‘water breaks’ for the dogs courtesy of a nearby stream!
A big thank you to those who came along, all our helpers and especially the Lingholm Estate for the use of their land and off road vehicle transporting much needed water supplies.

KC Good Citizen Award Achievements

Congratulations to Frankie Hamilton-Jones & Guus, Crimblescurl Take a Chance, on passing the Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award.

Critiques

Bath Canine Society, 27 May 2024
Gundog Puppy Group
Judge: Mr SJ Parsons
A very even group where I could happily have chosen any of the shortlist….
A very close contender was the beautiful Curlycoat Epsilon Adhara at Molokain with a classical outline, super jacket and side gait.

Tay Valley Gundog Association, 21 April 2024
Judge: Fiona Bell
Open (2)
1. Bain’s Crimblescurl Time to Tango at Wenichones A very well constructed 3 year old bitch who has a lovely classic wedge shaped head and dark kind eyes. She has well laid back muscular shoulders. Straight forelegs with strong pasterns. Her chest is deep and of good width and her ribs are well sprung. She has strong rear quarters with good width and length of second thigh with well let down hocks. Moved with plenty of drive holding her frame very well BOB
2. Duff’s Overbore League of Their Own A mature dog of 4 years old who is well muscled and in good coat. He has an appealing masculine head and correct scissor bite. He has strong forequarters with a lovely reach of neck flowing freely onto a good lay back of shoulders. He has a good width and depth of chest with well sprung ribs. However he was carrying too much weight which affected his movement.

United Retriever Club, 14 February 2024
Judge: Carole Coode
Reserve Best Puppy In Show went to James’, Curly Coated Retriever Kahawa Sea The Stars, 10months Liver boy, balanced all through, good wedge shape head, well made forequarters, with good prow, correct through the body, moved out well, in the crispest of tightly curled coats.

AV Retriever MP 11 (5ab) All five were quality
1st Clack & Eddery’s Curly Coat Epsilon Adhara At Molokain, elegant 6 month bitch pup, great headpiece, clean neck set into well made forequarters, correct ribs, loin, tuck up and tailset, well turned stifle good bone and feet, moved out soundly and effortlessly, crispest of tight curls.
