Working Tests
Working Day Statement
The KC Regulations Booklet dated 1st January 2014 states that “No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling”.
The Curly Coated Retriever Club fully endorses this statement and whoever heads gundog training sessions or any event run under the auspices of the Club has the Club’s authority to deal with this matter and ask the offender to leave the training session.

The Game Fair Minority Breeds Team Challenge 28 July 2024
The Game Fair was held at Blenheim Palace, and the Curly Team took part in the Minority Breeds Team Challenge in the Marlborough Arena. The event was organised again this year by Judy Hempstead of the Working Minority Retriever Club and the final placings were:
1st Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
2nd Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers
3rd Irish Water Spaniels
4th Curly Coated Retrievers
The Curly Team was made up of:

Minor Breeds Working Test 16 June 2024
This year’s Minor Breeds Working Test was hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers at Roanlodge, Nr Buxton. Taking part were the Chessies, Flatcoats, Curlies, Irish Water Spaniels, & Tollers. The Curly Coated Retriever Team came 3rd.

The Game Fair Minority Breeds Team Challenge 30 July 2023
This year at the Game Fair, Ragley Hall, in Warwickshire, saw the first Minority Breeds Team Challenge. Four teams took part in the Retriever Test, Curly Coated Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels, & Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. The Curly Coated Retriever Team came 4th, with a very respectable score of 215, only 10 points behind 3rd place.

This year’s Minor Breeds Working Test took place at Upper Shadymoor Farm, Stapleton, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
It was organised by the Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club. The Curly Coated Retriever Team came a very credible 3rd place.
Minor Breeds Working Test 15th June 2019
The Minor Breeds Working Test took place at Upper Shadymoor Farm, Stapleton, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
It was organised by NEFRA’s Caroline Hewison and Chris Hewison. The Curly Coated Retriever Team came 2nd to the Flatcoats, with Sue Margerison coming 3rd overall.
