Tarzan on the move
Bred in the purple, he hit the ground running winning Puppy Stakes at just 6 months. At his first Championship Show, the won BPIB, RCC and Puppy Group 4 under esteemed judge Mr Frank Kane.
Well respected Breed Specialists awarded him RCCs from Puppy. His first CC came from long serving Breed Specialist Mr Ron Ellinor who commented “this could be the New Breed Record Holder “.
Tarzan was just 13 months old.
It is unfortunate that the Covid Pandemic of 2020/2021 put a stop to dog shows, slowing down Tarzan’s career with many lost opportunities.
Tarzan currently holds the Breed Record with 51 CCs, 46 with BOB. He has won the Gundog Group on 3 occasions with multiple group placings. He has been BIS at the Curly Coated Retriever Club Championship Show on no fewer than 4 occasions, a record in itself.
Other notable successes include, BIS at URC, twice RBIS & BOS. He has been Our Dogs Top Curly Coated Retriever 4 times, Top Retriever 2019 and Top Puppy 2017. He was awarded Runner Up at Crufts Vulnerable Breeds Final when representing the breed. Tarzan has also won Champion Stakes no less than 7 times.
His recent achievements include winning Best of Breed at Crufts 2023, which had eluded him until then. And to complete the circle, after winning Puppy Group 4 at his first Champ Show, as detailed above, he won his 40th CC and 39th BOB, at Windsor Championship Show 2023 under that same esteemed judge, Mr Frank Kane. At Driffield Championship Show 2023 he won his 44th CC and 42nd BOB, a very special day as it was his 7th Birthday and he won his first CC there 6 years ago.
As a Veteran he has continued to win top honours, at the Scottish Kennel Club Show May 2024, he won his 47th CC and 43rd BOB, his first Gundog Veteran Group 1 and topped that off with winning Best Veteran In Show. He has also won Veteran Stakes no less than 6 times. At Leeds Championship Show 2024 he won his 48th CC and 44th BOB, this is the 5th year in a row he's won BOB, not including 2020. At National Gundog Association Championship Show 2024 he won Gundog Veteran Group 1 and went on to win Best Veteran In Show. At City of Birmingham Championship Show 2024 he won his 50th CC and 45th BOB, Gundog Veteran Group 1 and Reserve Best Veteran In Show. At Darlington Championship Show he won Gundog Veteran Group 1. This brings his Veteran tally to:
4 x Gundog Veteran Group 1
2 x Best Veteran In Show
1 x Reserve Best Veteran In Show
He then topped off 2024 in style at Ladies Kennel Association, winning his 51st CC and 46th BOB, and Gundog Group 4.
After LKA 2024, Maggie and Jerry have announced Tarzan's retirement, Maggie said "What more can we ask of this lad, he has achieved so much. A true ambassador for the breed, a Legend in our lifetime. Sincere thanks to all the judges who have awarded him highly and been part of his journey. We are so proud to have bred him and own him. Our very own Superstar, TARZAN."

A dog of a lifetime....!
He really is a dog of a lifetime. Not only a superb and willing showman (who cries when left at home) but a wonderful gentle soul whose primary aim in life is to please and be loved. His temperament and attitude are second to none.
Tarzan has been used sparingly at stud to selected bitches. His Progeny are showing great promise and have taken on his wonderful temperament. We look forward to the future with them.
