Judge’s Critique:

My best wishes to Fiona Valentine, a breed specialist whose entry this was and I believe was unable to judge due to ill health. My thanks to the Society for their consideration in appointing me as replacement and to the exhibitors for their supporting manner as the replacement judge, I am conscious that it was a breed specialist replaced by a non-breed specialist but your support was much appreciated. Without more numbers it’s difficult to make sweeping statements, but I would like to provide an introductory paragraph. Coats were good, type was strong, and temperaments were excellent, to the point of being so laid back they almost verged on lacking showmanship. There were some exceptionally promising youngsters and I was not surprised that the BP was awarded PG2.

JD (1)
1 Stephens Brightmeadow Rumour Has It. 6 month chap who coped very well, balanced to the fore and rear, lovely wedge shaped head, excellent strong dentition, larger ear, nice neck into strong shoulders, correct bone, moved soundly and in parallel, lovely size for his age, the best of temperaments with a real ‘come and look at me’ attitude, his coat is super, he just ate up the day with enthusiasm and he was an absolute pleasure to judge, I was delighted to award him BP and pleased to stand ringside and watch him take PG2 in excellent company later in the day, BP & PG2.
OD (4,1)
1 Brookes’ Infallibles Black Crusader at Kelsmere (Imp Nor). Mature chap who had type in abundance, his head to handle was almost faultless with that classic wedge shape, strong dentition, larger ear, almond eye and correct proportions, in coat his curls are perfectly formed, in body he is deep, strong and in hard condition, on the move he could give more but his stride is powerful and he covers the ground effortlessly, just at his own pace, his temperament is first class, BD and later BOB on the basis he was cleaner and tidier coming and going than the bitch.
2 Stephens’ Ravenho Looks Like Trouble for Brightmeadow. Much to like about this chap, in super coat, another one who scores in excellent body, for me he was just a little rounded in the rear, but he had the lovely balance of masculinity with a degree of elegance as is called for, with nothing overdone, on the move he excels with a powerful gait which has extension and drive.
3 Parker-Miles’ Tengore Mr Moonlight.
JB (2)
1 Perkins’ Maycourt Miss Sweetness at Tengore. 15 month old bitch who showed well, correct bone and the best of feet, scores in neck and head, being unmistakenly wedge shaped with a good ear, I would prefer a touch more length but her top-line is correct and depth is good with adequateate spring of rib, on the move she is active and sound.
2 Stephens’ Brightmeadow Come On Eileen. 6 month baby with so much to like, she is oh so raw but has so much potential, I adored her angulation to the fore and rear and it came into its own on the move, she showed good reach and drive on the move with no effort, she is just long enough and those curls are right for her age, her eye is dark and mischievous, I will watch her with interest, she shouldn’t have met 1 today otherwise she would have topped the class.
PGB (2,1)
1 Moskowitz’ Ravenho Mochara Cadeaux. A moderate bitch with correct length and bone and a lovely laid back attitude, nothing to fault as such but today she sadly didn’t really sparkle, her head is wedge shaped with good nostrils and nose and a lovely kind expressive eye, her neck is sufficiently long and she really scores in body, her feet are well arched and tight, RBB.
OB (5,1)
1 Parker-Miles’ Overbore’s Ace of Hearts. Really caught my eye and at first glance she didn’t disappoint on the move, correct proportions, lovely depth and forechest, in the head she is typical, typey and feminine which leads into a lovely neck into well made shoulders, she is balanced fore and rear, her coat is super and she is superbly presented, she was the soundest in the class by some margin, BB.
2 Moskowitz’ Blue Willow at Ravenho. A lovely mature exhibit, full of body and there was more of her than 1, good feet, her head is less typical but not incorrect, she is more moderate in angles but not incorrect on the move, she gave enough today, I loved her attitude. 3 Perkins’ Tengore Ruby Tuesday.
