Judge’s Critique

It was a real privilege to judge a good number of Curlies in the ring today as it has been quite a while! It was good to see so many good quality representatives of the breed. A big thankyou to all the exhibitors and the Show Secretary and Committee for giving me this opportunity.

JD (1)
1 Hodson Rowancurl Gentle Gaelor. Promising and upstanding young black dog. Correct head shape and profile, pleasing expression and good dark eye. Good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders. Level top line and correct length of tail and tail set. Good moderate bend of stifle. Excellent compact feet. Good coat of tight crisp curls. Moved ok when settled. Just needs time to mature.

1 Stubbs Brightmeadow Take Your Time at Densdale Elegant black dog. Lovely masculine head of correct shape and proportions. Notable dark eye and correct set ears. Good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Excellent straight front and well developed forechest. Super balanced outline when stood. Good tight feet and crisp curly coat. Another one that needs time to mature and also settle on the move.

1 Tarelli’s Hunters Pride Jurajska Gwiazda at Tarockwood (Imp Pol) Quality mature black dog. Correct head shape, dark eye and pleasing expression. Good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Good forechest and straight forelegs, excellent depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Good bone. Strong straight top line. Muscular rear and moderate bend of stifle. Excellent thick curly coat. Moved soundly with drive and extension. Well deserved best dog. BD
2 Tarelli Firecurl Some Like It Hot at Tarockwood (ai). Upstanding mature liver dog. Masculine head with dark tone of eye and pleasing expression. Correct length of neck into laid back shoulders. Well sprung ribs. Straight top line and correct tail set. Moderate bend of stifle. Good outline when stood and good coat. Moved soundly when challenged for reserve. RBD.
3 Driscoll Fleetpaw One for Arthur at Hisriver

JB (4,2)
1 Evans Rowancurl Beachcomber Notable young black bitch. Feminine head of correct shape and length of neck with good forechest, front and placement of shoulders. Strong straight top line and tail set. Neat tight feet and correct moderate bend of stifle. Good coat. Moved well with drive.
2 Gadd, Fleetpaw Miss Saigon. Lovely black bitch. Correct head shape and pleasing expression, good front assembly with straight top line and tail set. Straighter in stifle than winner. Excellent tight crisp curly coat and feet. Moved ok but not happy in the ring today so didn’t show herself to her best.

1 Evans, Kukkasen Keita by Caballus Outstanding quality liver bitch, feminine wedge-shaped head with correct length of neck, good front assembly and lay of shoulders. Strong top line and correct tail set and carriage. Overall super outline and balanced angulation when stood properly. Excellent crisp coat and neat tight feet. Moved soundly with drive and extension. Stood out today. BB & BOB
2 Hayes & Biglin & Walton & Chattwood Gorchest’s Pendlecurls’s Rising Star at Pepperiever (Imp Usa). Lovely feminine young black bitch, with correct shaped head and eye and pleasing expression. Good length of neck and well laid back shoulders. Superb outline when stood with straight top line and correct tail set. Moved well with drive when settled. Good crisp coat. Just not the maturity of the winner and needs more time. A contender for reserve BB.

1 Cummings Molokain Enchanted One. All round, quality mature black bitch. Correct head profile and eye and pleasing expression. Good length of neck and forechest, straight forelegs, well placed shoulders. Level top line and tail set. Good rear angulation and muscular hind quarters. Good outline when stood. Excellent thick crisp tight curly coat. Moved well with drive today. RBB
2 Spraggins Tusepo Amazing Love Good quality liver bitch. Feminine head, correct reach of neck, good front assembly and lay of shoulders. Strong straight top line and correct tail set and carriage. Super outline and overall good angulation when stood. Moved soundly. Just lost out in placings due to being out of coat.

1 Spraggins Pepperiever Love in A Mist at Tusepo Spritely, 9 year old black bitch. Feminine head, correct reach of neck and shoulder placement. Level top line and tail. Good crisp curly coat. Great mover for age covering the ground well with drive and enthusiasm. Well deserved best veteran. BV.
