Judge’s Critique

It was a great honour to be voted by the members to judge this show, (when I first judged it in 2002 there was an entry of 84 making 97) How the times have changed. Today there were 28 making 34. I would like to thank everyone who entered but realise with the change of date and venue this possibly affected the entry. However there were some high class dogs to judge and I enjoyed the day. It was lovely to see so many old and new members who came for the day to watch. A special thanks to my two stewards who did an excellent job.
Having not been to this venue before, I felt it was very basic, the ring was very uneven, the grass should have been cut shorter and the cuttings removed which would have helped me as the judge, the exhibitors and their dogs. There was a good atmosphere in and out of the ring, it was lovely to see so many people staying on and joining in the picnic. Thanks to everyone who organised and donated.

VD (2)
1. Mistlin’s Sh Ch Pepperiever Beech At Crookwood JW, 8.5yr old with lovely shape and type. Good head and kind expression, correct balance, good neck and correct shoulder placement, deep body, carries a good top line. Excellent tail set, good legs and feet. Moved well. BV
2. Johnstone & Murphy’s Saxonholme War Hero At Silvora, enjoying his day out, pleasing head and expression. Good neck and correct shoulder placement. Deep body, good legs and feet, moved with purpose but lost out to 1 in hind quarters and action.

MPD (3) 3 litter brothers, will follow their progress with interest.
1. 1. Mercer & Thomas’ Foxriever Star Tribute To Stormacre, Super balanced puppy, everything in the right place and showed his heart out. Beautiful balanced head leading to good neck and shoulders, deep body, good topline and tail set. Adequate bone, good legs, tight feet, moved with collected purpose, should have a bright future. BP
2. Barber’s Foxriever Picture Perfect avec Blanchard, (liver) Slightly smaller at this early age and not quite as pleasing in head. Good neck, shoulders, top line and tail set, legs and feet. Moved with collected purpose. Well handled.
3. Miller & Millichamp’s Foxriever Solent Solent Sensation At Whitecurls, Taller and rangier at the moment then his litter brothers, plainer in head but has yet to develop.

PD (3)
1. Mercer & Thomas’ Foxriever Star Tribute To Stormacre
2. Barber’s Foxriever Picture Perfect avec Blanchard
3. Hall’s Foxriever Beyond Limits, yet another litter brother. Balanced head and good eye colour. Tail set not his fortune and carried very high at this early stage. Not really collected in movement but enjoying his day out. Well handled.

JD (2)
1. Driscoll’s Fleetpaws One For Arthur, well balanced liver, would prefer darker eye colour, good coat, deep body, good tail set, legs and feet. Tends to pace when moving but this should settle.
2. Masson’s Tessmene Summer Solstice, larger dog but balanced throughout. Looks at little short in neck at this stage, deep body, strong legs and feet and the uneven ground did not help his movement.

YD (1)
1. Terelli’s Hunter’s Pride Jurayska Gwlazda At Tarockwood (Imp POL), balanced head and kind expression, good neck, shoulders, top line, deep body, good legs and feet. Tail carriage spoils the overall picture. Good crisp coat. Moved OK when settled.

PGD (2)
1. Titley’s Fleetpaw Wondering Star, Won this class on maturity, lovely type, excellent head, neck, shoulders, topline and tail set. Deep body, good front, legs and feet. Excellent coat, Moved well.
2. Johnstone’s & Stokes Talismanic Bag Of Tricks, lovely dog giving away to maturity in this class. Lovely balanced head, pleasing expression, good neck, shoulders, top line and tail set, legs and feet. Moved OK, in good coat. Well handled.

LD (3)
1. Barber’s Pepperiever Pheasents Eye Over Blanchard, Lovely outline when stacked, super balanced head and expression. Good neck and shoulders, deep body, good legs and feet. Lovely tail set and correct carriage. Shown in good coat.
2. Fielding’s Roughyeds Romeo Reuben, Taller and rangier then 1st. Balanced head with good expression, adequate neck and shoulders, level top line, good legs and feet. Spoilt by tail carriage. In good coat.
3. Carlin’s Haneslou Cousin Jack, Carrying too much weight today which spoilt the overall picture, which made him look very stuffy in neck, good body, coat ok. Insisted on pacing on move.

OD (2)
1. Stephen’s Sh Ch Brightmeadow Never Say Die JW ShCM, Delighted to judge this top class dog and award him the CC & BOB. Everything in the right place, and commands the ring. He moves with effortless gait with collected reach and drive. Beautifully balanced head, excellent neck, well placed shoulders, deep strong body, tail set and carriage. Super tight coat.
2. Mercer & Thomas’ Elkysar Black Arrow Over Stormacre, Not quite as mature as one, but everything there. Balanced head of correct proportions, good neck, shoulders, top line and tail set, legs and feet. Moved with purpose, in lovely coat RCC.

VB (2) 2 Excellent bitches at the extreme of the height standard for the breed. Both in excellent coat with balanced heads and lovely expressions, deep bodies, good legs and feet. Moved out with collected, reach and drive. An honour to judge them.
1. Stubb’s Kireton Flourish At Densdale
2. Hayes’ Firecurl Myrtle Snap By Pepperiever

MPB (3)
1. Mercer & Thomas’ Tynside’s My Heart Will Go On To Stormacre (Imp USA), Beautifully balanced black. Super head, kind expression, lovely neck, shoulders, top line, legs and feet. Good body and super coat. Moved with reach and drive and real purpose. Shall watch her progress with interest. RBP
2. Carlin’s Celebrated Caramel From Tornada Beta (Imp LTU), liver with a long way to go but has lots of time on her side to develop and she needs to grow into her ears!! Adequate neck, shoulders. Top line, tail set, legs and feet.
3. Whitehead’s Foxriever Flawless Finesse, liver, not 100% happy today. Her head needs to break and she needs to grow into her ears!! At present she is longer cast, has a good coat coming and has lots of time to grow and develop breed wise and get her confidence.
