Finnish Curly Speciality, 24 May 2025
Our very own Roz Davies has been judging at the annual Speciality Show in Finland, she told us, ‘It was such a privilege to be asked to judge the Finnish Curly Speciality May 25. It is the equivalent to a CC judging appointment in the UK but under FCI rules. The major difference is that each dog receives a critique, dictated when they have been assessed which goes live on-line the moment it is finished. The exhibitors follow the ring action and the judges’ evaluations in real time. No stress at all then! I was pleased to award BOB to the veteran bitch, super classic type.
I gave each exhibitor a momento coaster, given out by the super efficient ring steward as they were awarded their grade ribbon. These were individually printed by our own Heather Driscoll, thanks Heather they were really appreciated.‘

Curlies at Burghley Game & Country Fair, 25 & 26 May 2025
Curly Coated Retrievers were represented in The World of Dogs at Burghley this bank holiday weekend. Despite the forecast, and the suggestion that the lovely weather we’ve been having was due to break, we were lucky as it was mainly dry & sunny. The Curly team were very busy meeting members of the public, and had some lovely people, including existing Curly owners, come and visit the stand. Some people just loved seeing and meeting the dogs, others showed a genuine interest in perhaps becoming a Curly owner in the future…..
The team this year was Jo & Brett Clayton with Hebe, Clover & Sorrel; Elaine Woodford with Forrest; and Wendy & Richard Tarelli with Deco & Nox.

29 Dogs travelled to Bath, making 40 Entries for judge, Jeff Horswell, at Three Shires Field, Bath. Jeff’s main winners were:

Huge Congratulations to Nina Parker-Miles and Bern! Bern ofcourse had already gained his Show Champion title, to be known as Sh Ch Tengore Mr Moonlight, having won 2 CCs and 7 RCCs, but his weekend he also won that 3rd CC and went on to win Best of Breed.

1 May Foxriever Dragon Heart (AI) 6mth liver boy looking well balanced even at this awkward age. Nice head good soft expression, well sprung ribs, short loin, happy disposition, moved with drive. BP BG4.
2 Solomon Foxriever Sacred Spirit at Elksyar 10 mth Bitch overall nicely shaped, good wedged shape to head good reach of neck and pleasing top line. Coat not as developed as 1st.

1 Harpham Mrs L & Miss K Overbore Hurricane Lane 15 month Bitch good overall profile just needs to mature into frame. Pleasing head well shaped good forequarters with well sprung ribs. Loin developing well and moved with purpose.

1 Rule Overbores Perfect Storm Good strongly muscled bitch, obviously built for purpose. Good wedge shaped head, powerful neck and body lovely 2nd thigh, moved round the ring with purpose and drive. BOB G4

1 Solomon Sh Ch Foxriever Mystic Marvel at Elkysar Good sized powerful dog, lovely head well angled. Powerful forequarters good spring of ribs. Short loin but would have preferred it thicker. Moved with purpose. RBOB.
2 Rule Overbore Raise the Stakes Lovely shaped bitch well proportioned. Powerfully muscled throughout, moved with purpose and drive, a lovely girl, but would have preferred her to be a bit taller.
