Ozzy’s Memorial Fun Scurry at CAST Dog Training, 15 September 2024
This was the second event to remember Ozzy the Cocker Spaniel and to raise funds for the Pet Blood Bank, held at CAST Dog Training in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire. The day included a Scurry with Dummies/Toys, Lunch & refreshments and the draw of the Dog Hamper Raffle, followed by a Scurry with Dummy Launcher, and there were rosettes for the winners. It was so well attended, there were Curlies, Goldies, Flat Coats, Labs, Spaniels, Border Collies, Rotties… £458.40 was raised for the Pet Blood Bank!
Joanne Clayton told us,
‘Had such a fabulous day at ‘Cast gundog’ taking part in the charity Scurry raising funds for the pet blood bank in memory of Ozzy the cocker spaniel, 6 Curlies taking part after showing at Darlington dog show the day before but having the best time retrieving over the bales, getting 1st, 2nd & 4th places in the retriever class then just loving the dummy launcher, Hebe at 10 years old was shaking with excitement & did 2 beautiful long distance retrieves they all loved every moment of the day & we had just as much fun with them…’
Nox, Firecurl Some Like It Hot At Tarockwood 4th; Clover, Firecurl Georgie Porgie 1st; & Sorrel, Firecurl Ace 2nd.
Working Minority Retriever Club Working Test, 15 September 2024
Beverley Snudden & Olive – Roughyeds Regal Return, took part in the WMRC Working Test on Sunday. Beverley told us,
‘Sadly, only one dog received an award over the 4 x classes! There was deer scent everywhere & it caused a real problem for what should have been relatively straightforward tests!
Nonetheless, the day was enjoyable, judges encouraging & a lovely mix of minority breeds to be out with.’
Richmond Championship Show, 7 September 2024
Judge: Jan-Erik Ek, Sweden (Thornbreaker’s)
Gundog Puppy Group
I very much enjoyed judging Best Gundog Puppy in Richmond and what a group it was, it was lovely to be able to go over so many quality puppies and I made two cuts before I finally decided on my placings, I can only say I wished I had more cards to award and truly mean that. A big thank you to all exhibitors for staying on to participate in the group and to Richmond Dog show committee for inviting me.
Group 2 Stephens’ Brightmeadow Rumour Has It
Retriever (Curly coated)
Loved this lovely puppy of correct size and super curly coat all over. Beautiful head and expression on a well set neck leading into a well laid shoulder. Strong back and super ribcage for age. Effortless mover.
