Curly Coated Retriever Club Championship Show, 11 July 2026
Huge Congratulations to Di & Hannah Courtier & Pepper – Maycourt Take Me To The Top JW, for winning Best In Show at the CCRC Champ Show under International Breed Specialist Judge, Tiina Illukka (Caballus) from Finland. Pepper is owned and bred by Ms Di Courtier.
Curly Champ Show, 11 July 2026
Whilst this show was very much in danger of being postponed again this year due to the weather, it actually turned out to be a very successful day. We had lovely sunshine and some challenging temperatures, but the Club Committee in agreement with our judge, Tiina Illukka, made the decision to change the start time for judging from 11am to 9.30am – which worked really well. We had a gazebo for the Judge and Stewards, and also a large gazebo at the side of the show ring to enable competitors and dogs to wait in the shade whilst other dogs in the class were being judged. We didn’t break after the Dog Challenges, instead deciding to continue straight through to Best In Show, ensuring judging was completed before the hotter temperatures in the afternoon.
We had our usual gazebos for our Secretary, Curly Raffle, Curly Club Shop, and Curly Rescue. The main building was open with seating and a large fan to ensure there was plenty of shade available, and people were also able to bring their own tents on the day. We had paddling pools to keep dogs cool, and lots of bottled water available for anyone who wanted it. Club member Nikki Dick had made loads of colourful dog cooling bandanas, more than enough for all the dogs, in fact some of the people were wearing them too, so thanks so much for that Nikki…!
After judging we quickly took pictures of the class winners and main winners. We got together for our picnic, and the Curly raffle was drawn, with prizes kindly donated by those attending, and it was also time to shop, with lots of lovely things to buy at the Curly Club Shop and on the Curly Rescue stand.
A big thank you again to the Curly Coated Retriever Club Committee for your hard work and organisation, and not forgetting the volunteers who helped with all the setting up and packing away, and made the show a success. A big thank you too, to all the competitors, exhibitors, friends and families who came along to enjoy the day. The weather was a bit of a challenge this year but it turned out to be another great day.

Breed Rep at P In The Park Festival, 11-12 July 2026
Leslie Bain told us, ‘Over the weekend Blue, Crimblescurl Time To Tango At Wenichones JW represented the Curly Coated Retriever Club at P in the Park. This is a dog festival held near Dalkeith.
On Saturday we were joined by Caroline Mitchell with her Daughters dog Dexter, Overbore League Of His Own and on Sunday Jean Cummings joined us with Nova, Molokain Enchanted One and Ebony, Maycourt Island Girl For Breichside JW.
Both days saw us chat to lots of people promoting the breed and introducing it to many who had neither heard off or seen the breed on the stand. We also had a slot each day to give a presentation in the Main Arena which the dogs loved.
This is a super event which certainly is worth visiting. We have already been invited back next year.’

Rally
Ethan-James Emery & Murdoch (Foxriever Midsummer Magic At Thunderguard) have been working hard with their Rally training and have let us have some lovely news:
Talking Dogs Rally Online Trial – ‘We received our results from Talking Dogs Rally online trial we got an Ace with a score of 198. I’m over the moon and proud of Murdoch and all we’ve managed to achieve. Congratulations to all our friends at Lincs Dog Training on their results what an amazing group of dogs an owners.’
Talking Dogs Rally In Person Trial – ‘Murdoch and I attended our very first in person Talking Dogs Rally trial held at our happy place Lincs Dog Training. Fantastic atmosphere and lots of learning to be done and well taken care of dogs in the weather with plenty of shade and water, and water to play in.
It was quite overstimulating being outside for Murdoch and nerves did get the better of me, what’s the saying it’s always the handler never the dog but in the outdoor course we managed to come away with an Outstanding and a score of 189!
Indoors he’d turned his brain cell into gear and so had I even though he was warm and the course was a tight for the big goofball he managed it well and I’m so proud of him with all the distractions of the day we got an Ace with a score of 191!Â
Lots of amazing feedback to take forward and work into our training sessions and for myself as well such a wonderful group of people. Massive congratulations to everyone on their achievements today, truly lovely to see the community together.
Big thank you to Lincs Dog Training for all their continued support in training both me and Murdy and getting us to this point which we never thought possible you guys are fantastic!‘
Curly World Seminar 2026 – Denmark – Information Update
The organisers have published the following information regarding travelling with dogs:
‘Travelling Home After CWS-26? We Can Help with Deworming!Â
Many countries require dogs to receive a documented deworming treatment before re-entering the country. To make things easier for our international participants, Curly World Seminar 2026 offers an on-site deworming service on Thursday.
– The treatment will take place immediately before the lecture by Camilla Juelsgaard Jørgensen, who will also be the attending veterinarian for the session.
– Prices
If you bring your own deworming product:
• 250 DKK / 35 EUR for the first dog
• 150 DKK / 20 EUR for each additional dog owned by the same person
If you need to purchase the deworming product on site:
• 150 DKK / 20 EUR per dog for the product
• Plus the treatment fee listed above
– Registration

2nd 1089 – Tusepo Miss Scarlett, Breed: Retriever (Curly Coated) (Mr N & Mrs S D Spraggins) This 14-month-old black bitch presents a pleasing outline, combining strength and femininity with a flowing silhouette. She has a balanced head shape, featuring a lovely dark eye and a kind expression. Her strong neck leads smoothly into a firm topline. Well developed in both brisket and forechest. When settled, she moves with drive and purpose. Presented in a coat of small, tight curls.

1st & BOB Bain’s Crimblescurl Time To Tango At Wenichones JW 5 year old black bitch who was in a mischievous mood today. Good profile being slightly longer than tall, correct wedge shaped head, slight stop and balance between skull and foreface. Obliquely set dark eyes and small well placed ears. Strong neck into laid back shoulders and legs well under body, good feet. Deep chest, ribs sprung and extending back to short loin, correct underline. Muscular rear and moderate angulation with short hocks. Coat of correct texture with tight defined curls. Moved positively when she settled into it.

1 Maycourt Cover Shot (Courtier). 3 year old Liver bitch, shown in lovely coat of tight flat curls. Wedge shape head of correct proportions and level planes. Small high set ears. Strong neck of good length, flowing into well set shoulders. Deep ribs, well sprung ribs, level topline. Tail of correct length carried correctly on smooth powerful drive. BOB.
2 Maycourt I’m Still Standing (Jack). 18 month old Liver dog. Certainly all male with balanced strength throughout. Pleasing head,strong neck, well defined forechest, well angled front and rear. Coat of good condition. Movement a little haphazard today, but certainly enjoying himself. Res BOB.

1st – Boorman and Brown’s Kahawei Star Catcher – very balanced boy, nice topline well maintained on the move and had good drive in the rear, lovely hard muscular condition showing his maturity, better rear angulation present. Strong head into good neck and straight legs and tight feet. Presented in lovely coat. A very pleasing boy. BOB
