CCRC Gundog Training/Team Selection Day, 10 May 2026
Our Working Co-ordinator Heather Barber organised a Gundog Training/Team Selection Day with trainers Cunningshot Gundogs and Milnroe Gundogs, hosted at Red Hall Farm Gundog Training Ground. We’ll have a report from Heather next week, but for now there have been some wonderful comments from the day….
Cunningshot & Milnroe Gundogs said, ‘We absolutely love working with minority breeds and it was a great day hopefully some of the dogs we saw and trained will be competing in the minority breed team events in a few weeks and again @thegamefair at Ragley Hall. What a fantastic day….‘
Bea Barber said, ‘Thank you for hosting such a fabulous day! We all thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the dogs!‘
Jeannette Findlow said, ‘Just one of the many exercises we did training today, this was at the end of the day after lots of water work and other exercises. All abilities were catered for with dogs and handlers being pushed on to new levels. Thanks to Heather Barber and the Curly Coated Retriever Club for organising and Cunningshot Gundogs for the training.’
Gill Boorman said, ‘Austin and I had a night away and a days training with the Curly Coated Retriever Club . Thanks to Emma from Cunningshot Gundogs for your patience with us, we learnt loads !!! Fab day !!!‘

Insights Series – Curlies In Focus – Photography with Hannie Warendorf, 27 May 2026
The CCRC presents the second seminar as part of our Insights Series.
We have a wonderful talk coming up about all things ‘photography’ with Hannie Warendorf. She will be providing hints and tips on how to get the best out of your photos of Curlies! This will take place online via Teams on Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 7pm.
The event is free for club members and £5 for non members.
Please send all questions you have in advance as Hannie would like this to be interactive, including which camera/device you are using. This can be by email to Carol or our Facebook Messenger.

This week Beverley Snudden & Olive (Roughyeds Regal Return) attended the morning session of the Working Flatcoat Training Day with Mandy Smith & Kelvin Nettleingham, in Redhill. Beverley said Olive completed three consistently perfect retrieves…. ‘steady, straight & focused. I am SO proud of this sweetheart‘.

2 Sutton, Whitehead & Whiteheads Foxriever Immortal Spirit. Curly Coated Retriever. A lovely young dog who must have a great future ahead of him. He’s maturing in the right way. Typical wedge-shaped head with dark oval eye. Strong neck with very good shoulder and upper arm. Deep chest, well ribbed back. Slightly longer in body than high. Moderate well-muscled quarters. Round feet and good bone. Sound up and back and used himself well in profile with reach and drive holding his shape. In great crisp coat. RBIS.
