Judge’s Critique

I am most grateful to the Committee for the opportunity to judge at this show and so award my first set of challenge certificates. Thank you to those who entered and the friendliness around the ring which made the day most enjoyable.
Overall I felt that exhibits displayed good breed type but I remain concerned about the number of dogs that are close behind on the move.

VD/B (3,1) 1 Bett Elerrina Untouchable (Imp NLD) An 8 year old whose condition belies his years. A strong masculine head which is not overdone, with well set neat ears and dark eye. Strong neck that flows into well angulated shoulders. Nice forechest, well sprung ribs moving into a strong loin. Tail well set on which flows on the move. Moves with drive and extension. A coat of tight black curls in good condition. Well deserved the RCC and Best Veteran; 2 Miller & Millichamp Curlabull Iron Lion Zion ShCM 7 year old male, smaller and more compact with everything in proportion who looked good in profile but moved less freely than 1. Lovely head with dark eye. Moderate angulation at front and in bend of stifle. Strong legs with neat, tight feet. Shown in good coat which was less tight than 1

PD (3,1) 1 Mercer & Thomas Foxriever Star Tribute to Stormacre 8 month old black with a bright future. Overall is growing with a balanced ratio in body. Head size and shape bodes well for the future with a gentle expression and dark eye. Whilst a clean neck and shoulders would like to see more forechest. Tail is set well on and holds it well on the move. Well boned with tight feet. Black coat with tight curl; 2 Miller & Millichamp Foxriever Solent Sensation at Wightcurls 8 month old litter mate to 1 with similar qualities but less balanced at this stage of his growing. Another good liver coat. Showing with exuberance.

JD (3,1) 1Driscoll Fleetpaw One For Arthur 15 month dark liver with a tight curl to his coat. Masculine head well made with a good wedge shape, would like a darker eye to better match his fine coat colour. Deep chest with appropriate width and well sprung rib cage. A moderate bend of stifle. Moved better than 2 with tail held well on the move. 2 Masson & Glover Tessmene Summer Solstice 13 month old liver who has grown on early. A fine head with dark eyes of correct shape. Well off for bone, with strong legs on good feet. Well developed forechest. Well sprung rib cage leading into good coupling. Didn’t move so well today.

PGD (3) 1 Tarelli Hunters Pride Juraiska Gwiazda At Tarockwood a 20 month old black dog who is masculine throughout. Well shaped head in both planes with well set on ears and a kind expression. Good length of neck flowing into deep chest and then onto deep body with well sprung ribs. Moderate bend of stifle but sufficient. Shown in good condition and well muscled with coat of crisp curls. Moved well in class and if he had maintained this in the challenge then could have been in the cards. 2 Miller & Millichamp Curlabull Dark Moon Rising At Wightcurls 2 year old black dog whose coat wasn’t in best condition today. Masculine head with dark eye. Excellent bone, straight forelegs on good feet. Adequately sprung rib cage, loin and coupling. Nice shape to bend of stifle. A little fidgety on the move. 3 Masson & Glover Tessmene Summer Solstice

LD (1) 1 Hall & Twigger Kandrelli Black Winged Kite Over Ghilgrange 4 year old strong dog with masculine head. Good length of neck and deep forechest with good width. Looks good in profile with appropriate bend of stifle. Moved ok. Not in his best jacket today

OD (3) 1 Stephens Sh Ch Brightmeadow Never Say Die JW ShCM A dog I have admired this dog from outside the ring as he has developed and he did not disappoint when gone over. He exudes breed type. Well balanced masculine head with dark eye. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, well made throughout. A moderate bend of stifle. Moves with drive and elegance and holds a well set tail. Tight black crisp curls. From entering the ring through to the challenge he stood out. Pleased to award him CC and BoB, delighted when he went on to Reserve Best in Show. 2 Mistlin Maycourt Starman by Crookwood ShCM 5 year old with much to like and as 1 displays many breed characteristics but a little more upright than 1. Shown in hard condition both well muscled and in good coat. Straight forelegs with good bone and strong pasterns both front and rear. Held topline whilst moving well; 3 Mercer & Thomas Elkysar Black Arrow Over Stormacre

PB (2) 1 Mercer & Thomas Tynesides My Heart Will Go On To Stormacre (Imp USA) 8 month old black with a bright future who showed herself with a composure beyond her age. Feminine head with lovely flow in profile and kind expression. Well developed for her age but not overdone with everything in proportion. Covered the ground with reach and drive and a tail held straight out behind her. Well deserve Best Puppy in Breed; 2 Whitehead Foxriever Flawless Finesse 7 month liver bitch with a finer head yet to develop. Nice neck and well developed forechest. Good bone and tight feet. Coat is coming on well. Could have been more settled for her handler.

JB (3) 1 James Kahawei Teal 15 month black who is very pleasing on the eye. Feminine head with lovely shape and colour to eye. Good reach of neck and forechest with correct angles at front. Well sprung rib with correct tuck up and length of loin. Shown in hard condition and moved with drive from her well constructed rear end. Lost out in challenge as not in her best jacket; 2 Mercer & Thomas Tynesides My Heart Will Go On To Stormacre (Imp USA) ; 3 Whitehead Foxriever Flawless Finesse

PGB (1) 1 Shears Maycourt Laser Love 3 year old liver bitch who whilst fine all over has lovely feminine head and eye colour to match coat. Good front, legs and feet with good bone. Pleasing profile when stood with a moderate bend of stifle. Today she moved with fun which made it more difficult to assess her movement.

OB (7) This was the class of the day in terms of overall quality. 1 Jack Maycourt Space Oddity RL2EX 5 year old quality black bitch with a coat of tight curls in excellent condition. Striking feminine head with well set on ears and dark eye. Strong neck, with plenty of depth to chest. Correct angulation both front and rear giving her effortless action when on the move. Pleased to award her CC, lost out on BoB only because of exceptional Dog CC winner; 2 Perkins Sh Ch Kelsmere Kass Of Tengore another 5 year old black bitch to type. Feminine head with pleasing expression. Looks good in profile with strong neck and forequarters, well sprung ribs and moderate bend of stifle. As 1 shown in hard condition and moved well. Lost out to 1 on coat but deserved RCC; 3 Whitehead Sh Ch Kelsmere Kamana For Foxriever ShCM
