Judge’s Critique
I loved my day judging the breed I have grown up with and owned for a number of years. The atmosphere of the show was really friendly, I had a lovely big ring to move the dogs in, which was great. I was very pleased with my entry, especially without CC’s on a Friday. The quality of the dogs I had was also a pleasant surprise.
JD (1) 1 Masson & Glover’s Tessmene Summer Solstice. Liver with very good wedge shaped head, with good parallel planes. Liked his large oval eyes, correct dentition. Strong arched neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Good deep chest with his brisket reaching his elbow. Very nice round tight feet with well arched toes. Res BD.
PGD (2) 1 Masson & Glover’s Tessmene Summer Solstice. See JD. 2 Driscoll’s Fleetpaw One For Arthur. Liver with a really good mass of small tight curls. Good strong and level topline. Good forechest. Although the head planes were parallel, I preferred the wedge shape of the first winner.
OD (3) 1 Betts’ Sh Ch Brightmeadow Jimmy Cricket. Very handsome black dog with an amazing tight curl. Lovely copy book wedge shaped head with parallel planes. Strong and slightly arched neck, level topline and moderate turn of stifle. Flowed effortlessly around the ring with extension and drive. I was disappointed to not see this dog in the group later. BD & BOB.
PB (3) 1 Mercer & Thomas’ Tynesides My Heart WIll Go On To Stormacre (Imp USA). This stunning puppy caught my eye on entering the ring and I couldn’t take my eyes off her, I would love to take her home, she ticked all the elements of the breed standard for me. Her coat was a mass of crisp tight curls that would put most older dogs to shame. She had great planes to her head and gorgeous oval eyes. She also moved round the ring with ease. In the challenge she only lost out on maturity. I’m sure she will have a very bright showing career ahead of her. BB and BP. 2 Batle-Hunter, Batle, Todd & Rahman’s Jeweller’s Pride Jurajska Gwiazda (Imp Pol). Another nice youngster with a good wedge shaped head with parallel planes. Good forechest, level topline. Moved round the ring effortlessly. Good tail length. Just didn’t have the tight curls of the first winner, but is only a youngster.
JB (2) 1 James’ Kahaweai Teal. Black with very nice wedge head and good planes. Nice large oval shaped eye. Really nice crisp curl to her coat, she did unfortunately have a couple of patches, which was a real shame, great forechest, and deep chest and neck and was in really great condition. Res BB. 2 Carlin’s Celebrated Caramel From Tonado Beta (Imp Ltu). Liver with good wedge head, correct large oval eye. Good deep chest and well spring ribs. Strong topline. Lovely round and tight feet, just preferred the forechest of the first winner.
PGB (1) 1 Betts’ Talismanic Star Appeal At Kelsmere. Six year old liver who stood alone in the class, with a good wedge shaped head, large oval eye correct strong slightly arched neck leading onto a strong topline and correct length of tail carried correctly on the move. Good round tight feet.
