Judge’s Critique

MPD (2) 1 Masson & Glover’s Tessmene Summer Solstice. At just 6 months old this young man is still very much a baby and he was certainly enjoying himself which was good to see. He is of lovely make and shape with good bone and substance and has all the attributes of the breed. Wedge shaped head of good proportions, intelligent eye and expression. Good balanced forequarters, right amount of body proportions for his age, strong and level topline, coat curls a little open at the moment little erratic on the move to begin with but once he settled he moved with a powerful gait. 2 James’ Kahawei Sunloch. Another young man of good breed type he is slightly larger and longer cast than winner, but balanced for height to length ratio. Pleasing masculine head, with small neat ears and dark eye. Well proportioned body, well sprung ribs, strong topline, in good coat and condition. Moved well.

JD (3) 1 Phillips & Harris’ Gladrags Ain’t Mis Behavin. This 16 month old young man has quality and excellent breed type, typical balanced outline, handsome wedge shaped head, dark eye and intelligent expression. Strong medium length neck into well placed shoulders, strong topline, good bone, to be critical I would prefer stronger pasterns. Good body proportions, coat of excellent quality with tight curl. On the move he has excellent carriage never dropping his topline and covers the ground effortlessly. RCC. 2 Johnstone & Stokes’ Talismanic Bag Of Tricks. Another 15 month old quality dog of good breed type, typical in outline, masculine, clean wedge shaped head, dark eye with soft expression, small well set ears. Straight forelegs, good bone, better feet than winner, clean neck leading in to well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm. Deep brisket with good spring of rib. Just not the strength in the rear as winner, in excellent coat of dense crisp curls. Moved well. 3 Baines & Hawley-Clarke’s Karnawalowy Drink Z Basisfory (Imp).

PGD (1) 1 Titley’s Fleetpaw Wondering Star. 20 month old dog who was a little apprehensive to begin with so I moved him to settle him before going over him. He has good breed type and is balanced in outline. Correct wedge shaped head, with dark eye and kind expression. Strong neck flowing into well laid shoulders and good level topline, deep chest and elbows tight to brisket. Well sprung ribcage. I would just prefer a little more strength to hindquarters. Moved a lot better with a change of handler.

LD (5,3) 1 Mercer & Thomas’ Elkysar Black Arrow Over Stormacre. 2 year old upstanding dog of good make and shape, masculine head of good proportions, strong neck, correct lay of shoulder, well developed body, well muscled throughout, strong powerful hindquarters with good width to second thigh, excellent coat texture. Excellent side profile movement just not as positive coming and going. 2 Edworthy’s Maycourt Cadillac. Another 2 year old dog of breed type with, typical head, eye and expression, not quite as workmanlike in appearance as winner and not as outgoing, good coat and moved ok.

OD (2) 1 Stephens’ Sh Ch Brightmeadow Never Say Die JW Sh.CM. This dog stood out here, he oozes quality and breed type, he is all male with an impressive balanced outline, and a fantastic outgoing temperament. He has a pleasing masculine wedge shaped head, with correct skull, dark oval eyes and gentle expression, clean cheeks and strong muzzle. Arched powerful clean neck leading into well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs, good bone and tight well padded feet. Excellent depth and spring of the ribcage, with well developed forechest. Holding a firm level topline both stood and on the move. Width and strength to muscled quarters. He really comes alive on the move displaying excellent reach and drive covering the ground with effortless strides. CC & BOB pleased to watch him win the Championship stakes later in the day and runner up overall. 2 Mistlin’s Maycourt Starman by Crookwood Sh.CM. 4 year old taller masculine dog who displays many breed attribute, balanced head, pleasing eye, typical outline and proportions, straight forelegs, strong pasterns, good depth and width of ribcage, well muscled throughout, good topline and tailset.

MPB (2,1) 1 James’ Kahawei Teal. 9 month old puppy of super make and shape, she is so very feminine in outlook with a happy outgoing temperament. Lovely wedge shaped head, oval shaped dark eye with soft expression, well set ears. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Excellent body proportions just right for her age, strong muscular hindquarters with good width of second thigh. She was presented in super coat and texture. She was a little lively on the move to begin with but once settled moved with well and with confidence. BP.

JB (2) 1 Jacques’ Curlabull Northern Dancer. At just under 12 months old this young lady is honest, workmanlike giving an impression of strength and stamina, yet retaining her femininity. Lovely balanced well proportioned head with pleasing eye and expression, excellent body proportions, powerful loin, good bone and feet. Presented in excellent coat and condition, she just tended to drop her topline when stood, but on the move she was precise and effortless keeping her topline as she went. RCC. 2 Bett’s Talismanic Star Appeal At Kelsmere. 15 month old young lady, smaller type, feminine head, good eye and expression, she is lacking in forechest at the moment and stands a little wide, she has an excellent coat of tight curls, not as strong in the hindquarters as winner and tended to toe in on the move.

PGB (2,1) 1 Lacey’s Fleetpaw Reach For The Stars. 20 month old bitch with many breed attributes, pleasing head of correct proportions, dark eye and correct ear set. Straight forelegs, good bone and feet, clean neck leading to well laid shoulder, deep chest with well sprung rib. Strong topline, muscled hindquarters which she used to advantage on the move. Presented in good coat.

LB (4,1) 1 Courtier’s Maycourt Crimson Moon. Really liked this 2 year old bitch and although she was dropping her coat a little, I forgave her as her attributes and construction outweighed this. She oozes breed type, very typical balanced outline with desired height to length ratio. Feminine head, kind eye, muscular neck, firm topline, well muscled hindquarters, well set and carried tail; she excels on the move covering the ground with ease and precise footfall. Was not surprised to hear later that she already had her title. CC. 2 Gill & Peake’s Mesdames Kelsmere Kasscade at Saxonholme. 3 year old feminine bitch of good size and is so well constructed and balanced throughout. Correct wedge shaped head with dark eye and alert expression. She was presented in excellent coat of crisp tight curls, good angulation, on the move she covered the ground well. 3 Carrick & Carrick’s Tessmene Diamond In The Sky.

OB (2,1) 1 Cooper & Denbigh’s Caballus Keep Left To Malanis (Imp). Up to size bitch of pleasing type, ample bone and substance, pleasing head properties, small eye and could be a little darker Straight forelegs, good bone and feet, well sprung ribs, deep chest, strong topline, well muscled hindquarters and good development of second thigh, not making the most of herself on the move and was just a little close behind.

VB (1) 1 Carrick & Carrick’s Tessmene The Bees Knees. 7 year old bitch who is well made and feminine, lovely head of good proportions, clean cheeks, dark kind eye and well placed ears. She is balanced in outline and is of good breed type, presented in super coat of tight crisp curls, well muscled throughout, she just tended to toe in on the move but I could not deny her BV.
