Judge’s Critique

I would like to thank the Club for the invitation to judge and the exhibitors for entering their
beautiful dogs. Also, a massive thank you must go to the Committee and to United Retriever
Club for all of their hard work to organise a show in these COVID times.
The majority of the dogs coped very well with a different environment and the ones which
did not I gave time too.
Generally, movement was my main concern, but some of this was also caused by some
handlers nerves after being back in the ring after such a long break. I thoroughly enjoyed
my day and look forward to seeing the dogs develop over the summer.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)
1st Stubbs Brightmeadow Take Your Time TAF, stood alone but thoroughly deserved his
place. A lovely baby puppy at just 6 months, good crisp coat. Good wedge-shaped head with
oval eyes. Good bone. Was unsettled when started to move but settled when moving
round. BPD RBPIS

Junior Dog (4)
Very close decision between 1st and 2nd
1st Parker-Miles Tengore Mr Moonlight, won this class on his movement. Well grown, 14
month black dog. Pleasing head and eye, with neat well set on ears. Had an excellent coat
and good overall balance. Good front angulation and held his top-line on the move. RBD

2nd Boorman Tessmene Talk of the Town, liver almost 13 months. Good eye colour and
shape. Good overall shape with moderate turn of stifle. Excellent bone and feet.

3rd Preece’s Foxriever Prime Performer, unfortunately he had left his jacket at home
today. Had good bone leading to nice tight feet. Moved OK.

1st Parker-Miles Tengore Mr Moonlight winner of Junior

2nd Preece’s Foxriever Prime Performer 3rd in Junior

3rd Edworthy Tengore Teddy Boy, litter brother to my winner but at different stages of
growth. Liver, with good bone and feet. Unfortunately, he was not happy to be gone over.

Maiden Dog (2)

1st Boorman Tessmene Talk of the Town 2nd in Junior

2nd Preece’s Foxriever Quality Counts, 2 year old black, did not have the balance of the
winner. Larger size. Lovely wedge head, with neat ears and good eye shape.

Novice Dog (1)

1st Preece’s Foxriever Quality Counts 2nd
in Maiden. He moved much better in this class
and was more settled.

Graduate Dog (3, 1abs)

1st Tarelli Firecurl Some Like It Hot at Tarockwood (AI), his movement won him this class.
Good top-line and had good height to length ratio. Had good bone and lovely round, tight
feet.

1st Tarelli Hunters Pride Jurajska Gwiazda at Tarockwood (IMP POL), loved his expression
and his attitude. Strong masculine black dog. Good shape head with good dark oval eyes
and neat ears. Good length of neck but a little throaty. Good depth of chest. Gave a
balanced overall picture. Moved well. BD & BOS

Open Dog (1)

1st Edworthy Maycourt Cadillac, this nearly 5 year old black dog had an excellent coat,
crisp tight curls. Good forechest and depth of chest, with well sprung ribs. Held top-line
with level tail on the move.

Veteran Bitch (4, 1abs)

A lovely class.
1st Jack’s Sh Ch Maycourt Space Oddity RL3EX, very pretty head, not over done in any
way. Shown in lovely coat. Good deep chest with well sprung ribs, good front and rear
angulation which gave her good sound movement. BVIS

2nd Stephens Sh Ch Brightmeadow Just One Look ShCM, this bitch is stunning profile with
a great length of upper arm giving her an excellent forechest. Did not move as well as my
winner. RBVIS

3rd Spraggins Pepperiever Love in a Mist at Tusepo, smaller type. Had good coat with
crisp curls. Did not have the shape of 1st & 2nd

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)
1st Stephens Brightmeadow Take One Look, what a gorgeous puppy. Just at the right
stage of development for her age. Such a pretty girl with good coat. Very well balanced at
this stage and shows excellent promise. When settled she moved well, holding her top-line. BPIS

2nd Moore Brightmeadow Take That, litter sister to my first place and they are different
stages of development. Liver with pretty head. Did not move as well as 1st

1st Perkins Tengore Sweet Georgia Brown, sweet liver bitch that was apprehensive about
being in the ring. Pretty wedge head and was well muscled. Moved very well when settled.

Yearling Bitch (7, 4abs)

1st Stephens Brightmeadow Who’s That Girl, liver bitch so well balanced. Another good
forechest which stood out when she moved. In good coat. Head OK.

2nd Perkins Tengore Sweet Georgia Brown 1stJunior

3rd Eden Roughyeds Minnie Caldwell, black bitch who needs to mature. Unable to go
over her.

Limit Bitch (3)

1st James Kahawei Teal JW, what a stunning young lady. She stood out in this class and
so deserved her BIS later on. She is very well constructed, with everything in the correct
place. Very pretty wedge head with a lovely dark eye. Small neat ears. Good depth of chest
and well sprung ribs. Well muscled and covered the ground with ease. Good coat. BB & BIS

2nd Spraggins Maycourt Hot Love at Tusepo, really like this liver bitch but she was beaten
on movement today by my winner. Very pretty head. Shown in good coat and lovely
outline.

3rd Davies & Margerison’s Infallibles Black Velvet at Kandrelli, hard to come up against
the other two. Moved OK with holding her top-line. Felt that her head was not in
proportion to head body size.

Open Bitch (3, 1abs)

1st Mercer & Thomas Stormacre Marguerita Time, fully mature black bitch. Excellent
depth of chest. Lovely crisp tight curls. Had good bone leading to good round tight feet.
Moved well when settled. RBB & RBIS
