Judge’s Critique

This was another small entry. Nine entered with three absentees. Such a handsome breed I have always wondered why they are not a bit more popular. I recall seeing Barbara Stapley’s curly coats way back when: she moved them, although she was better known for her Harkaway Smooth Fox Terriers. And then there was the famous Rifleman to admire many times in the gundog groups. also quite a long time ago.
PD (2) 1. & BP, Mercer & Thomas’ Foxriever Star Tribute To Stormacre. 6mths, well grown puppy with good outline, correct coat, attractive head and expression, moved well for such a baby, well handled, showed himself to advantage. 2. Barber’s Foxriever Picture Perfect For Blanchard. Litter brother to first, Liver with good head and eyes, strong body, good bone, not as settled as his brother when moving. Just needs to grow up.
LD (2) 1. Barber’s Pepperiever Pheasant’s Eye Over Blanchard. 5 yrs old, better overall proportions than second, typical head and eyes, good neck and topline, excellent depth of body, well handled and conditioned, moved ok but I would have liked to see him go with a little more drive. 2. Fielding’s Roughyed’s Romeo Reuben. 6yrs looking rather leggy compared to first, masculine head, good reach of neck, excellent coat, in good condition, excellent bone, charming character, not going with much drive today.
OD (1) 1. & BOB Mercer & Thomas’ Elkysar Black Arrow Over Stormacre, 2.5yr old, good looking dog in excellent form, good bone and substance, masculine head, kind intelligent eyes, well balanced outline and proportions, well conditioned and handled. Steady showman. Moved Ok.
JB (3-2) 1 & BB, James’ Kahawei Teal. 13mths, free moving youngster with quality head, good expression, excellent outline and proportions, happy showgirl, handled to advantage. Good Coat.
