Curly Coated Retriever Championship Show & Fun Day – 8 & 9 July 2023

The Curly Club has announced its annual Championship Show, taking place on the 8 July 2023, at Oswestry Showground, SY11 4AS. Our judge will be Mr Colin Mackay.
On the 9 July 2023 we will also be holding a Fun Day. There will be a number of activities including an Introduction to Gundog Training facilitated by CCRC Working Co-ordinator, Heather Barber. A Scurry, a Grooming Demo by Jill Stubbs, and an Introduction to Rally facilitated by Anne Russell.
There will also be a Fun Curly Olympics… this will incorporate all the silly games such as catch the biscuit, balance a sausage on your nose, the longest stay, the best heelwork, the fastest retrieve, the waggiest tail & anything else we can think of…..
Camping is available at the showground, on the Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. So we’re hoping lots of folks will stay over and we’ll be able to have a lovely social weekend.

Breed Representation
This weekend a number of folks and their Curlies were on the CCR stand in the Great British Dogs area at The Royal Bath & West Show.  Nigel & Merry, Di & Hannah with pups Pepper & Maple, Roz & Frodon, Nina & Henry with Bern & Wren, and Sue with River & Rain, were there over the 3 days. Another lovely venue, and fabulous weather – thanks everyone for giving up your time to represent the breed.

Don’t forget the CCRC is holding a…..
BAD and A3 Assessment on Saturday 23 September 2023 at Chelford Village Hall, Knutsford Rd, Chelford, Macclesfield SK11 9AS.
Please contact Caron Chattwood, Breed Education Co-ordinator, for more details.

Activities

Talking Dogs Rally Trial, 4 June 2023
Shirley Buchanan has been out again with her lovely Curlies, Glory & May

She told us they had a good day at Positively Canine, where they did a Talking Dogs Rally Trial.
In the afternoon Glory scored 199 in Puppy Level which is an Ace qualification. In the morning she was too distracted by the sheep and just couldn’t work but on the afternoon managed much better even if the sheep did their best to distract her.
May got Outstanding qualifications in level 2 scoring 184 and in the afternoon managed her first level 3 score of  187.

Shirley thanked judges Jacky Ruddock and Sue Coulstock who had travelled a long way to judge the trial.
Well done Shirley, Glory & May
