CCRC Gundog Training – South West Hub
Unfortunately the planned training arranged for 30 August 2025 had to be postponed, due to a sudden lack of numbers. Organiser, Nina Parker-Miles told us that unfortunately some of the girls had come into season, which meant they couldn’t come along and this had a knock on effect to other travel plans….
Nina told us that the regular Wednesday Evening Training Session had gone ahead last week, with trainer Jill Gardner, in Malmsbury.
‘Rachel & Kopis, Heather & Iris, and Rachel & Gunner attended and were all superstars. We practiced marked and memory retrieves in a line up then marked and memories in doubles followed by left and rights. Finished off with double retrieves over a stone wall , board and wire fencing then distance marked retrieves in a walk up.‘

Agility at Chatsworth Country Fair, 29 August 2025
We ran into Lorraine Killick and her Curly, Jason – Overbore’s Double Or Stick, at Chatsworth over the weekend, they were there competing and took part in the Steeplechase. Lorraine told us she’s so proud of Jason and was thrilled to be at Chatsworth competing with him. Before she went in for her run she said that the atmosphere there is like no other competition and because of that he would either be brilliant or would take off out of the ring… Well she didn’t need to be worried, Jason really did her proud, and he represented the breed admirably! What a star and such a lovely lad. A big well done Lorraine & Jason!

The Vulnerable Native Breed Show, 24 August 2025
Judge: D. Richard Disley (Acredam)
I would like to thank the CCR club for the sponsored entry. The VNB society for the invitation to judge at this well run show with a great atmosphere and my two very helpful stewards, the exhibitors for my sporting decisions and braving the heat.
The entry was a quality with most dogs new to me, decisions were made on construction and with a few lacking in coat, placing could have been different.

Puppy 3 – Three siblings all at differing stages of growth.
1st Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead & Whitehead Mr D, Mrs S, Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI), 1st and 2nd were very close, so very similar remarks apply. My winner was overall more together, Where his brother has a larger frame to fill and will take longer to come together. They both have lovely kind masculine heads and good tight curls. 1st is balanced in body and moved well when settled. Best Puppy.
2nd Sutton Whitehead & Whitehead Mrs E, Mrs D J & Mr A M – Foxriever Fire Fly (AI) This fellow has more bone and more size at the moment, but they are 2 lovely boys who I am sure will change places many times in the future.
3rd Whitehead Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Phoenix Rising.
Special Yearling 5 (1 withdrawn)
1st Clack, Clack, Batlle-Hunter & Eddery – Krisbos Leonidas with Molokain (IKC). 15 month upstanding male. Super outline with masculine head, and kind expression, strong in neck and front angulation, straight front with plenty of bone. Impressive on the stack, but was a little unsettled on the move to begin with.
2nd Whitehead Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Sea Fyre. Feminine lady in all repects. Standing gives a lovely outline and kept her shape on the move.
3rd Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead & Whitehead Mr D, Mrs S, Mr A M & Mrs D J – Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI).

1st Clack, Eddery & Clack, Mrs E D, Mr L & Mr E. – Epsilon Adhara at Molokain (IKC). 2 year old bitch in lovely coat and bloom. Balanced outline on the stack, with a lovely femine head with mature body components, In fabulous bloom. Moved well from all angles. Reserve Best of Breed.
Open 3 (2a)
1st Clack, Eddery & Clack, Mrs E D, Mr L & Mrs E. – Sh Ch Molokain Hocus Pocus. One I have admired from the ringside. This lady took my eye on entering the ring, mature balanced outline with all the breed attributes the standard requires. Lovely balanced feminine head, strong neck with well laid back shoulders, deep in the chest and short coupled. She has strong muscular hindquarters, which no doubt powered her round the ring on an easy stride. Best of Breed.

Special Yearling (1)
1 Edworthy’s Brightmeadow Man of Steel An 18-month liver dog who stood alone in his class, with a good wedge-shaped head and correct eye colour in good proportion to body size. Neat small ears and correct scissor bite. Good strong neck of medium length. Would have preferred a little more width and depth in his forefront. Super straight bone, pasterns just a little upright but good tight feet with well-arched toes. Coat with small, crisp, tight curls. Level topline. Unfortunately, not looking comfortable on the move and a little timid in the ring today.
Post Graduate (2)
1 Perkins’ Maycourt Miss Sweetness At Tengore A strong black two-and-a-half-year-old bitch with a pretty, wedge-shaped head, well-proportioned with the rest of her body, good reach of strong, slightly arched neck into well laid-back shoulders to good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs extending well back into short deep and powerful loin. Lovely bone, strong pasterns and good feet. Correct small, tight curls. Well-proportioned just found she moved a little too close behind for me today. Pleased to award her Reserve Best of Breed.
2 Courtier’s Maycourt Cover Shot A beautifully balanced 2-and-a-half-year-old liver bitch. Lovely head, super reach of neck, good depth of chest and short-coupled with good tail action and correct level topline. Very similar but not quite the size, strength and substance of 1.
Open (3)
1 Courtier’s Maycourt Take Me Top The Top JW A two-and-a-half-year-old black bitch. Very elegant and well balanced throughout Correct wedge-shaped head with good scissor bite and dark oval shaped eye. Small, neat ears with slightly arched neck of medium length to well laid-back shoulders and good return of upper arm to excellent forefront with good straight legs, strong pasterns and good feet. Level topline. Correct well-sprung ribs and well ribbed back to short coupling and slight tuck up to flank. Good muscular hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle, good second thigh and well let down hocks. Coat of tight small curls. Powerful sound mover. Very pleased to award her Best of Breed.
2 Davies & Bradstock’s Elgar’s Enigma Tornado Beta Con Redanimo (Imp LTU). Up to size three-and-a-half-year-old black dog. Good wedge-shaped head in proportion to his body with correct eye colour. Would prefer a little more arch to his neck and found him a little upright in shoulder and upper arm. Good depth of chest, well ribbed back to short coupling and slight tuck up to flank. Well let down hocks and moderate turn of stifle. Good small tight curls. He didn’t have the movement I was looking for today.
