NEFRA Autumn Working Test, 27 September 2026
On Sunday the Northern England Flatcoated Retriever Association held their annual Minority Breeds Test at Red Hall Farm, Betley, Crewe, and we are pleased to report that one Curly was entered –  Jeannette Findlow and Marion – Roughyeds Gold Stick Cellar SGWC.

Jeanette told us, ‘Marion and I went to the NEFRA Autumn working test on Sunday. We were in Novice, three tests all with 2 retrieves, Marion scored 20 on two of the tests but did something she never does and dropped the dummy after leaving the water on the third so that was a zero, never say never, lol….
NEFRA run training days as well as tests and are a really friendly club.‘

Well done Marion!

1. Courtier’s – Maycourt Cover Shot. Distinctive strong powerful looking dog with a feminine touch, nothing exaggerated or excessive, with a well developed head with correct proportions good dark eye, slight arch to a muscular neck of moderate length fitting smoothly into a well laid back shoulder, equal in upper arm and shoulder blade, straight in foreleg with strong pasterns, chest deep to elbow with good width, ribs well sprung and extending well back to a short powerful loin, moderate bend in stifle with well toned thighs, hocks well let down, coat with good curls tight and thick, moved with a powerful drive from the strong rear quarters allowing a good coverage of the ring. 2. Courtier’s – Maycourt Take Me To The Top JW. Another cracking example of the breed, with the characteristic crisp tight curly coat, head with nice plains and equal lengths in fore face and skull, strong through a moderate length of neck flowing smoothly into a well laid back shoulder, a little longer in body to 1st but still looked balanced, chest deep and with a good spring to rib, loin short and strong, moderate turn of stifle with sound toned thighs, moved cleanly in a steady driven action.
