CCRC Royal Kennel Club Breed Lunch, 20 June 2024
It was the CCRC RKC Breed Lunch on Thursday and it looks like a fabulous day was had by all. The day was organised by Club Chairman, Nigel Spraggins and at the lunch he said a few words…
So we’re here to celebrate our fantastic breed. We are also celebrating the fact that we have been registered with the Kennel Club for 125 years, and at that stage we were one of only 52 clubs registered. And later on next month we are celebrating our 40th Championship Show, so can we just raise a glass to that wonderful breed, the Curly Coated Retriever….. thank you folks

Aly Clayton was one of the lucky people to attend the day, and of course she took some lovely photos….

Aly told us,
The KC breed lunch was a wonderful experience. We started the day with tea and coffee, with a chance to gather and chat.
Then Lusia, one of the gallery ladies, took us on a tour of The Gallery and they had brought out all the Curly paintings and illustrations they have which included some recent donations by the CCRC.
We were then taken into The Library where Ciara showed us the history of the Curly and how extensive it is, which was amazing to see.
Then we looked through the photographic collections and this included the Dog World archives where there are lots of lovely Curly images.
Afterwards we made our way back up to the Club Room for lunch. We started with a glass of bubbly and toasted Gill Flaher’s birthday and everyone enjoyed a wonderful lunch. There was a lovely atmosphere and the conversation flowed all around. At the end of the day everyone said their goodbyes and thanked Nigel for organising such a wonderful day.
It was a lovely day with the sun shining outside and we are very grateful to Nigel and the Curly Coated Retriever Club for organising this special day at the Kennel Club.

The Working Curly
CCRC Gundog Training, South West Hub Training Evening, 12 June 2024
Nina told us:
We had a great evening with ‘rocket man’ Kopis – Roughyeds Regal George & Rachael, Iris (Overbore Bombette For HisRiver)& Heather and Wren (Overbore’s Ace Of Hearts) & myself. We built on previous week’s work and started instilling our ‘go back’ instructions and ‘stop’ at a distance. Also differing instructions on whether we were working on a blind or a seen. Next training evening is the 10 July, and then 10.30am on Saturday 3 August 2024′

Rally, 22 June 2024
Shirley Buchanan, Glory – Curlies On Wings Crossroad Glory and May – Fleetpaw First Lady, have been out this weekend competing in Rally at IABTC, Glory qualified in Level 1, and May qualified excellent in level 5 and was 4th. Unfortunately she didn’t qualify at level 6. Shirley told us this was mostly due to suffering in the heat and going wrong on the course, she said May was also tired after level 5. But she was pleased with both of them.
We think you all did well in that heat….
