Activities

The South of England Autumn Show & Horse Trials, 21 & 22 September 2024
Rachel Arnold & Kopis – Roughyeds Regal George At Treecave,  and Beth Spencer & Tolly – Crimblescurl Elm have been at the South of England Autumn Show, in West Sussex this weekend representing the breed.
Well done gang for flying the Curly flag.

Mantrailing
Frankie Hamilton-Jones has been in touch and told us that Guus – Crimblescurl Take A Chance and Etta – Overbore Silver Salute have been out Mantrailing and have both passed their Mantrailing Introduction Courses.
Committee member Jo Clayton organised a Mantrailing Day last year and it was brilliant….!
Well done Guus & Etta!

The Working Curly
Leslie Bain & Blue – Crimblescurl Time To Tango At Wenichones JW, have been working hard in the Perthshire Hills. Leslie told us,
It was extremely misty up in the Perthshire hills but that didn’t deter us. Blue worked her socks off in the beating line flushing through deep bracken. She then picked up a good number of birds including one from a stream. Everyday she just gets better and better.
Well done Blue – Curlies doing what they were bred for….

Critiques

Isle of Wight Gundog Club, 21 September 2024
AV Gundog Owned by Island Resident
Judge: David Smith
2nd Miller & Millichamp’s Foxriever Solent Solstice at Wightcurls, nice curly male and it was a shame he wouldn’t be gone over. He creates a nice picture set up and could of pushed harder for the class win today. He is all male with super substance and screams male. He moved ok but was a little close behind.

AV Gundog Abbeyaire Members Stakes
Judge: David Smith
2nd Miller & Millichamps Curly Coat Retriever, masculine super boy and sound coming and going. Creates a lovely picture standing. Super substance but has quality. Excellent bone and nice straight limbs. Stands on excellent feet. Nice angulation fore and after and moved out well in profile. Presented in good firm condition.

Sheringham & District Premier Open Show, 1 September 2024
Group Judge: Trisha Bellinger
Gundog Group
Some fabulous dogs to go over, my final choice was:-
Group 4 – Curly Coat Retriever – Rules’ Overbore Raise The Stakes. Lovely wedge shaped head with parallel planes, dark eye. Strong muscular neck into well laid back shoulders, straight front, nice round tight feet. Deep body with well sprung ribs, level topline, which she kept on the move, strong muscular hindquarters with good turn of stifle.
