Club News

Curly Champ Show, 21 September 2025
What a brilliant day we had….! After all the rain on Saturday, and some very difficult journeys for those travelling either to camp at the showground or to stay in the surrounding area, Sunday turned out to be a completely different day. It was dry and sunny, and even the ground hadn’t been badly affected by all the rain. We were so lucky after the disappointment of having to cancel the original show date in July due to the heat, imagine then this one being rained off…
So we were all set up and ready to go, we had a lovely big show ring, and gazebos set up for the judges table, the secretary, and all the wonderful stalls that were there with fabulous things to buy. Judging got underway with the Baby Puppy classes and of course we were live streaming for those unable to attend. We broke for lunch after the Dog Challenges, and had a lovely picnic lunch where everyone had brought something tasty to share.
Judging then resumed, we got through to the Bitch Challenge, Brace and Progeny, and then of course the challenge for Best In Show.
After the judging there were photos taken of the main winners and class winners – these will be loaded to the show results page shortly…
We then started with the BAD and MCE, and the A3 Assessment – the good news is that all the candidates passed the MCE, so we have four new JEP Level 2 Breed Specialists, and the three A3 candidates also passed their assessments.

The winning bids for the blind auction were:
Butterfield Lodge – £100
North Light Curly Figurine – £77
Barbour Hat & Scarf – £17.50
Hicks & Brown Fedora – £10

We also had our Picture Frames, for a fun photo opportunity…

A massive thank you to all those who made this a wonderful event, thank you for your entries, for spending lots of money on the stalls, for contributing and taking part in the raffle and tombola, and just for creating a lovely friendly atmosphere.
Thank you too, to the Curly Coated Retriever Club Committee for your hard work and organisation, and not forgetting the volunteers who helped with all the setting up and packing away.

Our Judge, Nina Parker-Miles said,
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the members for selecting me as their judge for the Curly Coated Retriever Club Championship Show. We had a record entry after the original date was postponed due to heat and thankfully the day stayed bright and sunny. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was grateful to have some fantastic exhibits to go over. Many thanks to all the exhibitors who received my decisions in a sporting manner. A lovely atmosphere around the ring and brilliantly organised as always by the Curly Coated Retriever Club.

The full results can be found here on the Show Results Page. All the photos will also soon be added.
