This year it’s being hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, at Stapleton, Dorrington, Shrewsbury, on 25 June 2023. The teams taking part are Chessies, Curlies, Irish Water Spaniels, Flatcoats & Tollers.

The Working Curly Coated Retriever
The ‘Confidence in the Water’ Gundog Training Day arranged by CCRC Working Co-ordinator, Lesley Eden, took place at Hopesay Arboretum, Craven Arms, Shropshire, on the 17 June 2023. Those taking part had a lovely day in beautiful surroundings…
Lesley Eden told us…
The training yesterday put the handlers and the dogs through their paces. Exercises – a walk up with in front and behind dummies, the dogs collecting the behind and the handles the in front, checking on steadiness and marking ability. Water was the order of the day, and they absolutely did not disappoint and would have worked there all day.
Then a jump with a seen and replace. All these were interspersed with a coffee break and Lemon Drizzle Cake (thanks to Steve) and Chocolate and Nut Brownies, a fun time had by all!

The URC are holding a Specified Breeds Working Test for Curly Coated Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels & Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers on Sunday 23 July 2023, at Ash Farm, Ingleby, Stanton-by-Bridge, DE73 7HW.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the United Retriever Club website and the closing date is Sunday 16 July 2023.
