CCRC Working Test Workshop – South West Hub, 6 June 2026
This half day weekend training workshop took place on Saturday in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, facilitated by Jill Gardner. The objective of the day was to find out all about working tests. What the rules are, what to expect, what the tests might be, and what the judges look for. There were some have a go test based exercises with a general chat on scoring and how to get the best from your dog.

Nina told us, ‘We started with a talk on working test and field trial rules and regs and the j regs. Then we went on to a series of tests where each dog was assessed and given training tips from Jill. The tests consisted of a walk up, sit, recall, then retrieve. 2nd test a long retrieve, 3rd test a mark and a memory retrieve, and the 4th a mark and a blind. Jill was very pleased with how all the dogs embraced the challenges. We finished off with tea and cake and a talk from Jill. Four Curlies were present, myself and Wren, Rachel Jack and Gunner, Rachel Arnold and Kopis, and Suzy Perkins and Ruby. We also had Joy with a gorgeous Goldie called Teddy and Kate with a lab called Dull. Excellent day!

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
Congratulations to Ethan-James Emery and Murdoch (Foxriever Midsummer Magic At Thunderguard) on passing the Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award.
Ethan was thrilled, and said…
Today we did a thing, we finally passed our KC Good Citizens Gold Assessment.
My god he made me work for it today in typical curly fashion, and potentially shaved years off my life in anticipation of what on earth this curly clown was going to come out with after having a almost perfect week in training. But my god he did it and I’m so proud of him.
All the help and support by the amazing team at Lincs Dog Training providing the laughter and confidence to keep working his brain cell, you guys truly are our happy place. He may drive me mad but he’s my curly boy and we did it!

Huge Congratulations EJ & Murdoch!

Class: 222 Puppy Dog or Bitch (0)
Class: 223 Graduate Dog or Bitch (1,0)
1. 282 – Arnold & Dobsons’s Roughyeds Regal George At Treecave – dog of 3 years of age that was presented in an excellent hard, first-rate condition, very much in keeping with a fit and workmanlike example of the breed and showing a worked quality. Masculine throughout with a pleasing outline and strong, firm topline. Head of good type and showing decent ratio of muzzle to skull that were parallel. Balanced by neat ears that sat slightly above level of eye and lying close to head. A kind eye of good, dark brown colour that was in keeping with his black coat. Good length of neck flowing into angulated shoulders and a well-developed forequarter. Good depth of chest with sufficient heart room and well sprung ribs. Would prefer a slightly longer loin to complete the overall proportions, though he remained balanced. Angulation to rear quarters in keeping with front. I would like a touch more width to upper thigh to complete his overall picture, but well-toned throughout and strong second thigh, enabling him to move soundly with purpose. Good feet and correctly carried tail completing the picture. BOB.

PG (3,2)
1 Clack, Batlle-Hunter & Eddery Krisbos Leonidas with Molokain JW (IKC), this young chap has a balanced head with a dark eye. Strong neck, straight front with good bone & feet, lovely depth & forechest, lovely ribbing with good substance, strong over loin & has a well muscled rear, shown in super condition with good tight coat, he moved very stylish covering the ground with ease & showing off his power with good reach & drive. BOB.
O (3,2)

1. Sutton, Whitehouse & Sutton Foxriever Immortal Spirit JW. 22-month exhibit and what a showman he is, typical in outline, not overdone, masculine in head, good bone and excellent coat, would prefer more strength in rear movement, a pleasure to judge. BOB.
Postgraduate (1)
1. Sutton, Whitehouse & Sutton Foxriever Immortal Spirit JW. As above.
Open (1)
1. Sutton, Whitehouse & Sutton Foxriever Grey Ghost SGWC. Another of super type, tight feet, deep chest, lovely body and maturity all over, there was much to like but he lacked the showmanship and enthusiasm of 1. RBOB.
